August 16 & 17 @ Fall Creek Falls Golf Course

The 1st Annual Fall Creek Falls Classic

Preliminary Dates - August 16-17 (new faculty orientation for McCallie folks)

Two-day tournament - 54 holes (18 on Sunday; 36 on Monday unless we work around the weather)

I talked to a guy at the course this morning. It looks like our best option for the tournament is called Getaway Package #4 - one round of golf on Sunday w/ cart and range balls, unlimited golf on Monday w/ cart and range balls + a double occupancy room at the inn on Sunday night for $95 + tax. Add dinner on Sunday night (they have a buffet), breakfast & lunch on Monday (as much or little as you want to spend on that) and then we'll keep it cheap for prizes since everyone's money is tight this year and say $10 (I'll buy some stuff for prizes, but the glory of winning the FCF Classic is the greatest prize).

That means the whole thing will probably be in the $150 range. I played around with different options to make it cheaper, but there really aren't any. The cabins have a two night minimum, so cramming in one for the night doesn't work. If we just played golf these days, it would run close to $100 by itself. All in all, it seems like a pretty good deal to play a good course (4/5 stars from Golf Digest).

Fall Creek Falls is a state park, so there is no beer. Bummer, I know. I imagine we can bring some and be discreet on the course (Monday seems like it might be easiest), but thems are the rules.

Mark your calendars - more details to come.
